Hello makeup lovers!!  I will be back with an eye look tomorrow!  Yay!  We have gotten all our furniture moved into our new house and we are DONE with the apartment.  My dad is refinishing our hardwood floors for us, so right not, they are sanded down and bare BUT when I leave to go to Honduras in July, he will be finishing up and they will look amazing!  We will also be building a deck on the back of the house over the summer.  I’m so excited to be out of the apartment and into our house!  I’ll post some before and after pics in the next couple of weeks.

My makeup has not been unpacked yet.  It was moved from our apartment to our house in the back seat of my friend’s care to avoid loading it onto the Uhaul truck with everything else.  So far, I think everything arrived in one piece, so there’s no need to panic!  As I said, I will post a new look tomorrow as I will be doing some makeup in the morning.

I NEED YOUR HELP!  MyGlam is doing a giveaway and I’m entered!  They asked people to post their favorite date night or wedding looks to their wall on Facebook.  There will be 3 winners.  One is random, one is MyGlam’s choice and one is Community choice.  I need everyone to go vote for my picture here.  <—– Right there.  All you have to do is click “like” on  my picture.  My picture is in the album twice somehow, so please vote on the first one which is what I linked to.  I’d love to finally win something!

Speaking of winning, I will be back with the Free Friday giveaway that I got behind on.  I didn’t forget the girls who already won.  I’ll be getting in touch with you soon to get you your freebies and next Friday, I will post rules for the contest!

Thank you all for sticking it out with me and for subscribing!  Please share me with your friends!  I’ll be back in the saddle soon makeup lovers!

I know I said I’d be MIA for a while but I just wanted to let you all know that I still post random pictures of makeup and nails as well as other things in my life all the time on Instagram. If you want to keep up with my life over the next couple of weeks while we move and get settled in, feel free to follow me! Hope to see some new followers soon!

As many of you know, I had my gallbladder removed in March. I suffered from severe abdominal pain for about 10 years and no one could tell me anything. I finally went to the ER in March and they said I had gall stones. After my surgery, it took me a couple weeks to figure out what I can and cannot eat but I started to notice I was losing weight. I cut soda out of my diet and started only drinking water. I also switched to eating whole wheat. I wanted to keep my fellow makeup addicts in the loop with my weight loss. So here is my first post. In order to be beautiful on the outside, you have to be happy and beautiful on the inside. I have never really been happy with my outer appearance. I’ve always been big. Before my surgery I weighed about 207. My surgery was on March 16. Today I weigh 191. So that’s over 15 pounds. I know that you’re thinking it’s because of my surgery, but the changes I’ve made can apply to anyone. This post will be two fold; I want to share some of my tips and I also want to share what I’m having for dinner tonight.

Tips:
One of the biggest things I’ve done is start counting my calories. This may not be the best thing for everyone, but for me I find that it has helped me make better choices regarding what I eat and how much I eat. I do this easily with the myfitnesspal.com app. You can download the app for your smart phone or you can track your calories on their website.

Being active also helps. I joined a gym and I also got a treadmill from my BFF and some small work out equipment from Five Below. I have no excuse because I have a gym membership and I also have stuff at home.

PORTION SIZE is major. If you’re like me, you like to eat. The Fitness Pal app has helped me to come up with ways to eat delicious food and a lot of it but still be healthy.

I also have started adding veggies to certain things. Like when I make ground turkey for tacos (you’ll see further down) I add in things like peppers, corn, carrots, celery and onion. Fruits and veggies are crucial to a good diet, so I find adding veggies to things helps get those extra servings in.

As I already mentioned, I stopped drinking soda and switched to only drinking water. Now, juice is good if you find ones that are healthy so I’m not saying never drink anything flavored, but for me juice is too sweet and too tart so I just drink water.

Like I said earlier, I switched to whole wheat. My burger buns, my sandwich bread, my bagels, my tortillas, they’re all whole wheat now. I also have sort of switched to brown rice. I say sort of because I still like sushi with white rice.

I have also started getting low fat and “lite” for things like salad dressing, sour cream, butter, etc.

I think that’s pretty much all the tips I have. So let’s get to the food! If you are anything like me, taco bell is your weakness. Mexican food in general really. So tonight I made tacos! I use ground turkey instead of beef. For these tacos, I cut up some green peppers and onions and sautéed them with some corn before I added the turkey. Once the turkey browned up and everything meshed together, I added in half a pack of taco seasoning and some water and let it simmer. For the tortillas, I use a whole wheat high fiber tortilla that only has 80 calories. I used about 2 tablespoons of taco meat, then added some bagged salad because it has some veggies in it, then I used Mexican blend cheese, salsa and lite sour cream. Another thing I suggest is to read the nutrition facts on the back. The cheese I got has 90 calories per 1/4 cup. I didn’t use anywhere near a quarter cup. Just because that’s the suggested serving size doesn’t mean you have to use that much. On the side I had a salad with McCormick salad toppers and fat free ranch. These tacos were just as good as any Mexican place or Taco Bell. One taco is under 300 (288 to be exact). I got the idea for doing eat this not that from both Hungry Girl and from Natalie Carona on YouTube. I hope you find this post helpful!

Hauls

Posted on: April 21, 2012

Even though I’ve been M.I.A. for a while, I still can’t help myself when it comes to getting good deals on makeup.  Here are the makeup products I’ve purchased recently.

First is one of my e.l.f. hauls.  I ordered some makeup brushes.  I got a blush brush, an angled eye liner brush and another eyeshadow “C” brush.  I LOVE the e.l.f. “C” brush.  It is awesome for applying makeup.  I also ordered two empty palettes, four eye shadows and four face colors to fill them.  Then I got one single eye shadow.  Just some random stuff.  I LOVE the face brush for my blush, bronzer and highlighter.

Hautelook had Lorac on sale a couple of weeks ago, so I ordered a color CD and a lip gloss.

I’ve heard awesome things about Too Faced’s glitter glue and I’ve used their eye lid primer before, so I wanted to check the glue out.  I went to Sephora to look for the glue and of course I couldn’t just buy one thing.  So here I have the glitter glue, a Toki Doki palette and a blue Sephora brand jumbo pencil.  This jumbo pencil is awesome.  I use it a lot as an eye shadow base.

I placed an order with Ulta because they had some things on sale and they were also sending out free gifts.  I purchased a cheek color, an eye color and a nail polish.  The free gift was the makeup bag shown here.  The second picture is everything that came in the makeup bag for free.  There were two eye shadow palettes, a set of brushes, a mascara, two double ended eye liners, a lipstick, a double ended lip gloss and a nail polish.  The package also came with some free samples.

I have a bunch of other hauls and looks to post but I wanted to show what I just got today. I ordered some stuff from Coastal Scents and got some stuff from Ulta. From Coastal Scents I got 12 hot pots and a magnetic palette, a concealer brush, and a foundation brush. They sent me a real cute bumper sticker that will most definitely end up on my car and they also sent a little sample of mineral eye shadow. From Ulta I got 3 NYX jumbo eye pencils, an eye liner brush, a sharpener and a blush/bronzer duo that came with a lipgloss by Physician’s Formula. The jumbo pencils are in baby blue, purple velvet and horse raddish. Can’t wait to try everything out!

So I know I fell off the face of the planet recently but I will be back soon! I had to have my gallbladder removed this passed Thursday so my life has been crazy for the past couple of weeks. I have still been taking pictures of things I’ve been buying and looks I’ve been doing. As soon as I’m feeling better, I will have lots to post. Just hang in there with me and I will be back up and running soon. Thanks makeup lovers!

My boss and I went in the Kroger that is being renovated near our office and they had a sale table!!! I got 2 nail polishes and a top coat. They were all under $1 each. I LOVE the glitter. It’s a nude color with purple pieces and it is so pretty. Here is the haul and the look! I hope you enjoy!
